Well built, feels like it won't break soon, and also has long wires so you probably won't even need extensions if you're working within a normal distance of your devices.
If you've ever dealt with USB serial adapters and virtualization, you'll know how much of a pain in the ass it can be.
I swore by Keyspan USB adapters until I had a piece of software that refused to work right with it (timing issues) and would only drop a character here and there but if you're doing file transfers, that's a deal breaker. The GearMo, worked flawless and I'm pretty sure it's because they use the FTDI chipset. Keyspan's are 100% custom chipset and the only other alternative is the crappy Prolific chipset which is well known to have problems.
Anyhow, love this dual USB serial adapter and will be getting another as a backup.
I can also leave these plugged in and the laptop running overnight. Had other individual ones that burned out leaving them running overnight.
Finally, since it uses the FTDI chipset, Mac drivers are readily available work flawlessly and the ports show up with names that actually make sense.
One tip: On my Mac, I installed 2 copies of Zterm and left 1 named 'Zterm' and the other 'Zterm 2'. This allows me to have two console sessions operating simultaneously. No problems.
This Gearmo Adapter is awesome. It uses the FTDI chipset and is flawless. This particular adapter is built very nicely and even had LEDs to show activity. Having two ports is very convenient. No need to continually swap a console connection between devices..
Seems like a very silly decision or oversight by the manufacturer. See the attached photo to understand the problem, you've got a male fastener on both sides of the connection.

Seems like a very silly decision or oversight by the manufacturer. See the attached photo to understand the problem, you've got a male fastener on both sides of the connection.
I heard that FTDI had great support. I really wanted a four port device, with female receptacles. This two-port cabled device was as close as I could get. So I do have a bit more of a cable mess than with Keyspan 49, the BSOD is gone.
The software is intuitive and integrated into Win7. I have two of these devices (4 ports total). They have serial numbers built in. So, when I move them around to different USB ports, they always come up with the same COM number. Not all drivers do this. Some report a different com port when plugged into a different USB port. It is much nicer to be able to label each of the connectors as COMxx instead of having to go to device manager each time I power up.
I am using 115,200 bps, but plan to move to faster speeds as I qualify my embedded device.
There is only one issue. They are marked A, B and on the 4 ports one it is marked A, B, C and D. It shows up on my Mac as 1, 2, 3 and 4. Not a big issue and a simple change in the drives would fix that. It has no bearing on the function and if someone can't interpolate those numbers then they are probably out of their league in just buying these.
